Shakeena Melbourne was a creditor’s attorney for several years working with banks and finance companies, she  currently represents consumers in multiple areas with an understanding of the creditor’s play book.

​Ms.Melbourne’s passion for the law began admiring her uncle’s business venture, a Jamaican restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Melbourne believed in her uncle’s vision and assisted him in maintaining the productivity of his business. Ms. Melbourne strived to excel in academia, volunteered in the community and worked at her uncle’s restaurant assisting with inventory, assessing the financials and of course waiting tables. Ms. Melbourne attended college at the University of California, Riverside majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in International Affairs. Thereafter, she attended Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School receiving a Juris Doctorate focusing in Business and International Law and obtained a Corporate Finance LLM.

Ms. Melbourne studied abroad in London, England where she took classes taught by an International Arbitrator in business and international law, completed 8 internships during her tenure in law school in different areas such as Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning, Gun Law, Department of Corrections with the Attorney General’s Office,  Tax Tribunal in Lansing, Michigan, Zoning and Condemnation in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Melbourne’s legal career began with an internship in the Corporate and Finance LLM program that resulted into an in-house counsel position at a bank’s headquarters in East Lansing, MI where assisted in real estate transactions, collections, landlord/tenant eviction, foreclosure and deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure. Later, Ms. Melbourne represented creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases such as finance companies, property tax entities and water services providers preparing Reaffirmation Agreements, Lease Assumption, Motions, and litigated Adversary Proceedings. Ms. Melbourne also represented businesses in matters of Creditor’s Rights and state and federal collections.

Ms. Melbourne is a licensed attorney in Michigan and is admitted in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and all of the local state courts. Ms. Melbourne is a member of Oakland County Bar Association, Elite Success Partners, Greater Englewood Business Coaching Clinic, Board of Director of Moving Legacies and currently volunteers with Common Ground Legal Clinic.

Ms. Melbourne is also the radio host of Coffee with Keeena, a radio show discussing hot topics and issues of the community such as credit management, business transactions, real estate, estate planning, life skills and developing self-awareness. The radio show airs on Iheart Radio, Anue You Global Radio and SDM Live Unplugged.
